RISE OF THE WILD WOMAN RETREAT
September 10 - September 13, 2026
Green Gulch Farm and Zen Center
Muir Beach, California (just north of San Francisco)
A Sacred Autumn Retreat to Awaken Your Untamed Self
As the veil begins to thin and the earth turns toward balance, join us for a 3-night, 4-day retreat in the wild beauty of coastal Marin County. Held the week before the Autumn Equinox, this is a potent time to pause, reflect, and root into the wisdom of seasonal change. Together we’ll honor what is ready to be harvested and courageously release what must fall away.
This retreat is for women ready to step fully into their power and embody the archetypal Wild Woman — the fierce, wise, instinctual self who knows how to trust the cycles of nature and her own body. Through daily practices like yoga, journaling, sacred circle, forest bathing, mindfulness, and embodied dance — along with nourishing vegetarian meals and soul-deep connection — you’ll find clarity, embodied presence, and the courage to rise in your truth.
Come gather, shed, and rise — in rhythm with the turning earth.
About the Venue
Green Dragon Temple/Green Gulch Farm (Soryu-ji) is a Buddhist practice center in the Japanese Soto Zen tradition, offering training in Zen meditation, philosophy and work. The mission of Green Gulch is to awaken the bodhisattva spirit — the spirit of kindness and realistic helpfulness — as a living enactment of Buddha's Way. Green Gulch offers sittings, practice periods, other Zen practice events, Sunday Dharma talks (in-person and through the Online Zendo) and workshops.
Green Gulch Farm is located on 115 acres seventeen miles north of San Francisco. It was purchased in the spring of 1972 from rancher George Wheelwright, with an agreement that it would always remain open to the public and engage in agricultural awareness. The land is an inholding of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and has much wildlife within its borders.
Green Gulch has become recognized as a place where organic farmers can come to learn the tools of their trade. One of the original architects of the gardens at Green Gulch was the renowned late horticulturist Alan Chadwick, who introduced the biodynamic farming techniques; Chadwick's grave is marked by a stupa on site.
Green Gulch operates a 7 to 8-acre organic vegetable farm and a 1 to 1.5-acre fruit, herb and flower garden. The vegetable farm sustains the community living at Green Gulch and also sells its produce at various local farmers markets, whole foods stores, and to Greens Restaurant in San Francisco.
Partnering with the National Park Service and other local groups, residents and staff at Green Gulch work to restore nearby Muir Beach and the surrounding wetlands to their original habitat.
